Minutes From 12 June 2003 Meeting

Hey Gang, Nancy here --
Although some of you couldn’t make it to our last meeting, our group is growing.  Hooray!  So far the following people have attended a planning committee meeting:
Larry Cawlfield
Scott Kottas
Bob Flesher
Melody Hayes
Jeff Ebert
Karen (Ludtke) Putman
Virgil Kaiser
Cathy (Campbell) Kaiser
Rhonda (Marsall) Sullivan
Steve Arlint
Wanda (Whitley) Arlint
Cathy (Poole) Yetter
I hope I didn’t forget anyone—my apologies if I did.

Our next meeting is very important – we’re going to get the mailing out.  It is scheduled June 26, 7pm at the AARP office.  In the new Great Northern Town Center -- 30 West 14th Street (3rd floor of the Empire Block) – the same building the Silver Star Steak Co. is in.  Call me if you need additional directions – 457-4702.  Please try to get as many people as possible at this meeting!

Here’s the reunion agenda we decided on:

Friday, August 8  7:30 - ?
Casual Evening – re-connect with old friends
Legal Tender Restaurant and Lounge, Clancy
(owned by classmate Scott Kottas)
Cash bar (that means you buy your own drinks), no food (unless you order from the kitchen) and . . . GREAT COMPANY.
Let’s just get together and say 'hey'.  Grab some dinner before we gather at 7:30 and come on out to Clancy for old friends and fun.

Saturday, August 9  2pm – 6pm
Golf Scramble
Fox Ridge Golf Course

Jeff Ebert is coordinating this fun golf tourney.  He’ll make darn sure everyone has a great time – even if you’re not a great golfer!  Be certain to pre-register on enclosed form if you want to play.

Saturday, August 9  4pm – 10pm
BBQ, Beer (and soda), and Friends – just like old times!
Woodpeckers

Located at the corner of Custer Avenue and McHugh, close to Capital High.  They have a great fenced-in lawn area and will cater a BBQ meal.  If you don’t golf, plan to arrive about 4 (?)pm – and if you’re golfing (or doing something else) just come by when you’re finished.  The cost for this event is $20 to cover our expenses – just send a check with your registration form.  Enjoy a beautiful Montana afternoon with good food and good friends.

More Info:
Cathy (Poole) Yetter is working on lining up 'shuttles' to Clancy on Friday night and Fox Ridge on Saturday – more discussion on that later.   Paul Ingels has developed a questionnaire that he’d like sent with registration material to gather classmate info for the web.   Paul also indicated he’ll set up a couple of laptops at the Legal Tender so people can view our website.  We’re going to request info about our reunion be posted on the Class of ’77 website and that any 77ers that want to come are welcome to register.  That’s all I have in my notes – see ya Thursday 6/26!

May 28th Announcement

Hello CHS Class of ’78 Classmates!

I’m happy to announce that the Helena-based planning committee met last night and identified August 8-9, 2003 as the date of our 25th reunion.  I must apologize for the short notice, but us local folks weren’t really gearing up for a 25th Reunion – we were taking it easy until the 30-year mark approached. However, there seems to be enough interest that we’ll give it a shot.  Many of you “out-of-towners” have been clamoring for a date so that you can make summer travel plans, so despite the plans being very vague – here are the details.

This will be a very simple, informal event with a Friday night no-host mixer (that means you buy your own drinks) at the Legal Tender Restaurant & Lounge in Clancy (the Legal Tender is owned by classmate Scott Kottas) and an event (to be announced) on Saturday – probably beginning around 1 pm with food provided at 5'ish.  We hope to include a golf tournament and barbeque, but must check for availability first – stay tuned.

Now – for information of local interest – to date the committee is pretty small – 6 of us, but we put the meeting together quickly and lots of you had other commitments.  Additionally, many local classmates weren’t even notified of the meeting (mostly because I was trying to make the contacts myself and I ran out of time).  But good news, the 6 of us brainstormed (I use the term “brain” loosely) and came up with nearly 40 more names of locals that we’ll notify of our next meeting.  So – if anyone knows of a local classmate, please contact them and invite them to our next meeting – we’re trying to include everyone (this might be a good time to note that most of the 20th Reunion planning committee had as much fun planning as we did at the reunion – don’t miss out!)

Anyway – next planning committee meeting will be June 12, (Thursday) at 7pm at Stinky Burger!  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email (nandersen@aarp.org) or call me.  More info will be available after the next meeting, including the names and email of everyone on the committee.

P.S.  Our next big goal will be to notify all classmates of the reunion – we’re hoping to use the address disk we used five years ago but there’s a question about whether we can read it – also, people move so if you have the address of anyone from our class, please send it to me, we’d like to do as much email notification as possible to save on postage so your help will be appreciated!!

Thanks again for everyone’s participation – stay in touch!
